XDS Astana Team rider Henok Mulubrhan wins the general classification of Tour of Magnificent Qinghai.Tour of Magnificent Qinghai concluded today in China and XDS Astana Team made this race a success: Aaron Gate finished third on the final stage, while Henok Mulubrhan claimed the overall victory and Harold Martín López placed third in the general classification. Henok Mulubrhan also won the points classification.The final stage, covering a distance of 121.3 kilometers, was held in Xihaizhen and ended with a bunch sprint, where Aaron Gate finished third. XDS Astana Development Team rider Santiago Umba spent the final day in the breakaway, winning two intermediate sprints and collecting valuable bonus seconds to help defend Henok’s lead in the general classification.<blockquote>“This victory means a lot to me. Several months ago, we were discussing my race program with team coaches and Qinghai was my big goal. I knew that I should be here for the victory. This week we were very focused on taking the leader’s jersey and acted according to our plan. We had a very good race, finishing first and third in the general classification proves that. Everyone played his part in achieving this perfectly. I am grateful for all the team members for their work and support”, – said Henok Mulubrhan.</blockquote><blockquote>“We came here with ambitions to achieve a strong result, specifically to win the general classification. The race turned out to be quite tough, as the teams who came here were very well prepared, and it was close until the very end. In the end, we won with a margin of just two seconds. The team worked well together, but it wasn’t easy because we were down to six riders after Gazzoli got sick and had to abandon. Qinghai. Mulubrhan is the final GC winner

XDS Astana Team rider Henok Mulubrhan claimed a victory on Stage 6 of the Tour of Magnificent Qinghai in China. Another team rider Harold Martin Lopez was third.The sixth stage started in Gangcha and after 232,7 kilometers finished in Gonghe. Henok Mulubrhan approached the final climb in a small breakaway group which made it to the finish line, where Henok was the strongest in the sprint.<blockquote>“This week we were really aiming for a victory. We made some mistakes, finishing second and third, getting on the podium, but we were hungry for a win. Today, we finally achieved it. I’m really thankful to the team, especially for today’s performance. They protected me from the wind throughout the stage and helped me a lot. After several attacks we approached the final climb in a small group of riders with some short advantage, but it was enough to make it to the finish. In the end, it all it all came down to a final sprint from this group, and I’m so happy that I finally delivered a victory, especially wearing this jersey. I’m also glad to take this win here in China, the home country of our title sponsor, XDS. I think we truly deserved it, both the riders and all the staff who work so hard for the team.
